FINAL WEEK - 10

Well this is it family and friends. The time has come that I must pack up my belonging and move to a new neighborhood. I'd like to think that you would miss me but my sadden reality tells me you won't even notice I'm gone. However; before I leave I want to share with you some of the things I learned in this neighborhood of ethics.

The objectives for this class are listed below.
  1. Describe major ethical issues in business and approaches to understanding business ethics.
  2. Compare different levels of analysis in ethical conduct and obligations.
  3. Explain common problems in ethical decision-making processes.
  4. Investigate methods to integrate ethics with optimal decision-making processes.
  5. Recommend communication strategies for ethical aspects of decision-making processes.
Our required text books gave great examples and strategies to help me to develop a sense of knowledge and understanding of business ethics and understanding how important my role is in my organization.

As a certified kids and teens etiquette trainer this course has helped me to develop some additional training exercises for my older kids who are nearing graduation to help them to understand the ethical dilemmas of corporate America.

Of the five objectives I believe that I have a clear understanding of them all, however, with a communication background; the communication strategies would be the one that I believe that I have mastered.

This was a very fun, engaging, entertaining and thought provoking class and I look forward to implementing some of the strategies in my personal and professional life.

Ms Rogers
I'm SO glad that you're my neighbor

Week 9 - let your creativity shine

This has been a very busy week!!!! School starts back for my son on Monday the 6th, but I thought it started on the 13th - I am usually on top of this but as I try and navigate my school work, my job and get my niece ready for college I just got a little off track.

Also, my son turned 16 on Saturday August 4th as he shares a birthday with our President. So in between rushing to take advantage of back to school sales for both my son and my niece going to Albany State University, work  and trying to let my son celebrate his bday I've been trying to find additional photos for my commercial and complete the commercial itself so that I can post first thing in the am.

I am looking forward to reviewing my neighbors commercials. Let's aggressively sale and push whatever our paper topic is.

Good luck!!

Welcome to week 8!

Let me first apologize to my string of neighbors that look forward to my blog postings and what insight I have to give. (this is ALL in my mind) I am SO very sorry that I've disappointed you. Last week just got away from me, I had so many obligations outside of school and trying to get just the right amount of information for my paper was a little stressful.

This week as we discuss decision making strategies the one that I find to be the most effective for me in making decisions is to acquire expertise. This expert advise came come in the form of research, past experience and advise from other leaders. Oftentimes leaders that are not directly affected or associated with the problem will be able to give a clear objective solution to resolve the issue.

The strategy that I find the most difficult in trying to resolve my issues are my very own prejudice to the situation. This usually proves quite difficult because of the other people that may be involved.

I know that as a leader it will be impossible to please all the people all the time so you must always do what is fair and just according to your ability, rules and laws. You will be well respected for your ethical unbiased judgement.

OK neighbors I'm going in - it's almost time for the street lights to come on.

Week 6 - Ethics - Oh how important are they?

What are your personal and professional ethical habits? Would they be deemed sociably acceptable?

I have really enjoyed this weeks' discussion. As a certified kids and teens etiquette trainer and studying to become an Executive Coach I have learned a few things that are worth adding to my knowledge and understanding to go out and be an effective coach.

I had a pretty busy weekend. Friday  I was in Athens for the state PTA convention. I am a very BIG supporter of the PTA and it's efforts. Came in on Saturday, my daughter came home for the rest of the summer from school, she was on a 6 week internship at the Howard Hospital. Then I had a wedding on Saturday that started and 1 1/2 late!!! Can you believe that.

Oh well it's the very first weekend that I didn' feel bad so I celebrated.

I'm signing off now - until next week.

End of week 5!

Time is winding down for week 5. It has been really interesting learning about heuristics and bounded awareness.

As I scroll my neighborhood  I haven't had any visitors and it makes me sad. Oh well, I guess I'll wait and see what week 6 holds.

After feeling really bad for the last 2 weekends I am finally started to feel much better.

Good night.

Week 4 ends in 1 hour

I know when you read this you are thinking it's really close to the wire for you Omega. I know, I know! This was the second weekend I haven't felt well at ALL. This one was far worse than last week. I had to go to ER Saturday and I only waited 4 1/2 hours, but at least I was cool inside the building because temps here in the Atlanta area were 104 degrees. I'm still experecing some discomfort expecially when I sit still for a long time it's difficult to start moving again. Hopefully THIS weekend I'll feel just fine.

This week our topic has been on ethics in corporate America and if one person can make a difference. My answer is absolutely but they must have ALL their facts and be willing to face the scrutiny that will surely come as a result of being a whistle blower.

I posted this story in response to a classmate - Although this story is not about corporate America it is about doing what you believe to be right.

I bought an ipad 3 case from an on-line retailer through Amazon, good price. (you get what you pay for) In most things I do a little research to see if it's worth my money, so I read all the reviews and everyone said it was a good product and they were happy with it and would recommend it. However; I had a few questions because the new ipad hadn't officially been launched as a Apple fan & customer I was able to pre-order. So may biggest question was will it fit, if no one has for the sake of true measurements how can you guarantee that it will work for me. So excited I made the purchase and my ipad came about 4 days later - wouldn't you know it - it did NOT fit, it did not secure my purchase. I'm a little sideways at this point so I go online and write my review, nothing nasty but honest in that it didn't work for me. To this day I am getting e-mail request from the company to go in and change my review and they will send me a partial refund. I have not even acknowledged their e-mails (all 12 of them)

Totally unrelated to corporate America but it's a perfect example that people will go to great lengths for you to do things their way even if it means going against what you stand for.

None of my neighbors have visited me - I'm a little disappointed :-( I'm moving at the end of this semester :-) Have a wonderful safe celebration tomorrow.

Eics Week 3!!

My how time flies when you're having fun, we're already in week 3! I am a little late tuning into class this week as I have been a little under the weather since Wednesday. I'm feeling better now.

I believe that this ethics class is going to give me a lot of additional material I can use in my etiquette training class. This discussion questions are very interesting - wooo workplace relationships, moral and spiritual values in the workplace and the list goes on and on and  I can't wait to read what my neighbors have to say.

Until we meet again, let's have a potluck - what'cha think?

I'm so glad you're my neighbor. Bye now.

Welcome to Ethics and Decision Making - Summer 2012

Welcome also to Ms Rogers neighborhood. It's so very good to see each and everyone of you.

This is my second quarter blogging so I'm becoming quite the expert. :-) I took a class from Professor Artz last quarter and it was very exciting and it took me out of my comfort zone for which  I am very grateful.

I've learned that blogging can be a very informative format to dialogue with your audience if you have something to say on a regular bases.

I trust that each and every one of you that are here for the very first time will embrace and enjoy what you will learn from and through this experience.

Again, welcome to my neighborhood, I'm so glad you're my neighbor.

This is it - we have successfully made it to the end of week 12!! I must really admit I am so proud of myself, not because of the effort as I always try to do my very best but because this class took me so far outside of my comfort zone. Professor Artz is an awesome instructor and I look forward to working with him during the summer.

I had some very interesting neighbors and I can't wait to see who's moving in next quarter. I'm turning the porch light off now, until the moving trucks arrive.

Good night.

Today is the end of week 11!!! I can hardly believe that we've come this far so quick. Its seems like yesterday. This week we had to post our video testimonials. I had so much fun creating this video and sharing it with my classmates. There were some great video shared by all.

Tomorrow starts the last week of class. I initially thought about taking a break for the summer but I'm going to push through it, I'm actually taking Professor Artz Ethics class for the summer session. Let the games begin.

Saturday, May 19, 2012

Welcome to week 10 - first let me apologize for not posting in the last 3 weeks. I certainly hope that everyone has been blessed and productive in the last few weeks. I have been extremely busy, sick, recovered and busy again.

I trust everyone had a wonderful mother's day. Happy early father's day to those who this would apply as I believe that we'll be done with this class by the time it actually rolls around.

I have truly had a blast learning about web 2.0 and blogging. This information is invaluable and definitely transferable.

We are coming to the close of this week and our paper are due - good luck with your final draft.

I am looking forward to your testimonials.

Hey neighbors - I hope everyone had a great weekend and an awesome start to a new week. Well we're past Monday!!! I had a wonderful weekend - went to South Georgia with my family to help my great aunt celebrate her 100th birthday. The Mayor of her town changed the name of her street to her name - this was such a great surprise there was not a dry eye in the place. How awesome is GOD?! Ok I have some questions to write and a paper to revise. Have a great week 7 and I'll meet you back at the fence for some more neighborly gossip I mean chit chat. :-)

Week 5 and OH such much work to do. This class is exciting, interesting and overwhelming at the same time, it has definitely taken me out of my element and thrust me into the world of social media so much more than I ever anticipated. As I attempt to promote my etiquette business I am learning so much about what to do and how to do it in the terms of social media.

This week one of the topics up for discussion was about twitter and if we were using it or not and what we thought about the books' description and if we weren't were we motivated to do so. Well I'm not and I wasn't sold on the idea just yet, however; one of the things I did mention about my reservation was if we could get others to follow us and what kind of pressure came with that - well we had to start this blog for class and I've checked a few of my classmates sites after the first week and no one is blogging and no one is checking my blog. I may need to get new neighbors, they are not very friendly. :-(

Happy Easter!! I certainly hope everyone had a great holiday celebration. We are coming to the end of week 4. We have an exciting week ahead with the BIG paper project. I hope that what I'm thinking in my mind will translate to an A paper I'm trying to make the deans list. Good luck to everyone on their projects. I think I need a scoop of ice cream before I lay down.

Good night neighbor!

Monday, April 2, 2012

Welcome Spring and pollen!! This is week 3 and I am getting the hang of the blog thing. I think I like it. I am really getting a kick out of this class, we are doing a lot of what we would do on a normal bases but it's causing us to think outside the box. I really like my new neighbors!! Have a great week and a wonderful Easter celebration.

Week 2 - I am really enjoying this class so far. Although I consider myself a tech savvy person I am learning quite a lot. I will use the POST method for etiquette essentials, my personal business that I am nurturing right now.
P = people - the mission of etiquette essential is to empower kids and young adults with sociably acceptable skills and decorum. My degree concentration is Executive Coaching so with this certification I do plan to market to corporate America as well.

O = Objectives - my company objectives are to teach morals, values, self respect, respect for others and confidence building. Manners are essentials to success and must be practiced and re-enforced daily.

S = Strategy -  I am in the process of developing relationships with the schools and churches in my community to offer etiquette 101 to the kids in those settings. Communication is one of the most effective strategies. I will reach out to my audience often, invite and encourage feed back on the service received.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                am

Welcome

Hey class, I am excited about this new adventure and I look forward to enhancing my internet social skills. This will certainly help me with my etiquette business when teaching to my students. One of my favorite tv shows growing up was Mr Rogers neighborhood, hence the name of my blog.

Won't cha be my neighbor!!
